Lighting Workshop 2!

Had a quick lighting workshop yesterday, which was awesome as I got to learn some new stuff about lighting whilst having fun!

Some of the shots worked better than others, but I won't be using any of these as my final photographs, just thought they were good to put on my blog to show how much I now know about lighting and alternative ways to use shutter speed!

Products

I had never before thought about photographing products using lights, but it worked out quite well. However, I can safely say that I will be using normal studio lighting and diffusers when I produce my studio shoot; the lighting was just too unpredictable and didn't give a good effect sometimes.

We began by photographing a perfume bottle, but we couldn't focus well enough on the subject without part of it being blurred. Plus, the lighting seemed to powerful, so the outline of the bottle was being washed out a lot. Photographing this head was much better though, as the lighting bounced off certain parts and made it look quite unusual!

Light Drawing

I experimented with light painting the other night, and I must say, I had better results when I was outside opposed to being inside the studio. Nonetheless, it was interesting to see what we could produce as a group when using light.

Flash Gun

I never knew before this lighting workshop that you could use a flash gun to capture movement whilst prolonging the shutter speed! This has lead me to buying a flash gun and using it outside on location to experiment and take this idea further!

I love the way all the movement of the model has been captured, as she walks across the studio or waves her arms up and down. This has prompted me to experiment more with this new idea and see if I can get effects that are better than this (as these shots were very rushed!)
