Shutter Speed Research

www.digital-photography-school.com
After experimenting briefly with the idea of shutter speed and prolonged shutter opening times, I want to take a more in-depth look at some ways that I can use shutter speed to create interesting and unique photographs. This photograph was captured in a train station and shows the train moving quickly in the background, merging light and colour together. I particularly find this photograph inspiring because of the sharp figure in the foreground. I want to attempt to create a photograph similar to this, using a still foreground figure.

Tyler Westcott's photography captures the beauty of the environment using slow shutter speed. I have taken inspiration from the photograph above, taken in Washington, because of how the slow shutter speed has captured the running water so it looms like a blanket. I will experiment with this idea, to see if this concept can work in different ways.

Michael Bosanko is one of the more familar slow shutter speed and light painting artists I am aware of. He uses light and smoke to create striking visual effects. I will experiment with this style, using light and maybe smoke to create interesting and vibrant light effects.
